ALPACA CARE
Because caring is part of what we wear.
Alpaca is not just soft — it’s smart. This living fiber naturally resists odors and needs fewer washes, making it one of the most sustainable and ethical choices in knitwear.
At Michele & Hoven, it’s the heart of what we do.
Each garment has been hand-knitted exclusively for you, and that makes it even more special — it deserves the same care you give yourself.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SWEATER
WASHING
It is recommended to wash it by hand with a wool soap or a little shampoo. It is not necessary to scrub them, as Alpaca Wool rarely gets dirty.
DRAINING
Do not hang the garment to dry, as this will deform its shape. Instead, place it inside a nylon laundry bag to let it drain, or lay it flat on a towel.
SHAKING
Once the garment is no longer dripping, hold it by the shoulders and gently shake it to help stretch and relax the fibers.
DRYING
Lay the garment flat on a towel in a shaded, well-ventilated area and let it air dry completely.
STEAMING
Once dry, you can steam the garment to make the wool fluffy again. Never put the iron directly on the wool, as this can burn or deform it. Gently shape the garment as you steam.
REMOVING PILLING
If you notice small fiber balls (pilling), it’s completely normal with natural fibers. Do not pull them out. Instead, carefully trim them with scissors, being cautious not to cut or pierce the garment.
